Accessing ClinicalKey

ClinicalKey can be accessed from the Medicine and Health Sciences Collections & User Services web portal or by using the link below.

The ClinicalKey App includes the following point of care solutions listed below.  Users can log in to the app through FAU's OpenAthens system or by initially creating a user name and password while logged in to ClinicalKey via the FAU Library ClinicalKey link.

Tip: Search for term, then use filter option in lower left corner to choose your desired content type. 

Utilizing ClinicalKey

Searching ClinicalKey

ClinicalKey’s search box can be utilized from the home page. Search results can be narrowed down from the box on the left side of the screen allowing the user to choose a specific resource type such as books or guidelines to search within.

Alternatively use the links across the top of the page to access specific sections of ClinicalKey such as books, journals, patient education, or drugs.

Searching Tips

  • Clinical Key supports the boolean operators:  AND, OR, NOT. 
  • To search for a Phrase use double quotes( “”) e.g. “immunization therapy”
  • Use an asterix (*) for truncation of terms e.g. diag* for diagnose, diagnosis, diagnostics
  • Synonyms of words and phrases, and alternate endings of words, such as -s, -ies, -ing, as well as acronyms such as DVT (Deep venous thrombosis) are  searched
  • Alternate brand and generic names (North American versions) of drugs are also automatically searched

Creating a Personal Account

Some ClinicalKey features require you to sign up for a personal account. To create a personal account simply click on the create account link in the top right hand area of any screen and follow the directions.

CME Credits

You can obtain. 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ per search conducted through ClinicalKey.

First conduct a search and choose an item most appropriate to your topic. Credits can be accessed by clicking on the ‘request CME’ button above your chosen resource.

Images:  over 50,000 medical images

Drug Information:  information on indications, contraindications, adverse reactions, FDA approvals and safety notices  

Guidelines: from articles published in the journals on Clinical Key, and from professional and government agencies available via the Web

Patient Leaflets: more than 1300 topics in multiple languages
