Originally published in print by the National Library of Medicine as National Library of Medicine Recommended Formats for Bibliographic Citation, it is now published online as Citing Medicine: The NLM Style Guide for Authors, Editors, and Publishers. The intention of the guide is not to "create a new bibliographic standard with this publication, but rather to apply existing standards to complex biomedical material."
