An academic department's first point of contact and personal guide for assistance with library services and resources is through a liaison librarian. Liaisons are available to attend departmental faculty meetings and are eager to learn more about each faculty member's scholarship, research and creative endeavors. Liaisons build and develop collections in all formats and work with departments to identify academic program needs. In addition, liaisons can assist faculty with information on copyright, scholarly communication, and identifying low or no-cost (open) educational resources, often referred to as OER.
