Creative Commons

Citing Creative Commons Images

Images should be cited as suggested by your assignment or any style guides used by a publication.  However, for general purposes, an attribution should include these elements as suggested by Creative Commons best practices.

  • Title of image or work.  A brief description can suffice if it does not have a title.
  • Author or creator.  This can be a person or an entity.
  • Source.  Where the work was found such as a site.  A link to it can be included here.
  • License.  The Creative Commons license, with a link to its license deed.
