Case Report Publishing Checklist

 Contact your clinical supervisor to discuss your case report
 Confer with, and if necessary, receive approvals by all necessary committees/responsible parties for a case report or other research being prepared for publication, i.e., you would want to contact the relevant Institutional HIPAA Privacy Officer and/or committee regarding authorization procedures & ask permission from attending physician and patient! (Faculty mentors/collaborators, attending physicians and others responsible for the patient’s care should be consulted, provide approval, and be listed as an author!)
 Schedule a research appointment with a medical librarian to discuss strategies for your literature search
 Conduct a literature search in library resources such as PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Clinical Key for relevant articles
 Contact the medical librarians for the code to waive the fee to publish in BMJ Case Reports as an FAU student
