FAU Student Newspapers

FAU has had student newspapers since 1966, two years after the university opened. These are primary sources that chronicles events at FAU from the students point of view.

The Atlantic Sun

"The Atlantic Sun" was the first student newspaper starting in 1966 and ending in 1989. It is Series 1 of the "Student Newspaper Collection." The articles offer insight to the new university as well as the changing personality of the student body.

Student newspapers are an intricate part of any university and essential to documenting its history. The Special Collections Department houses copies of the student newspapers in its University Archives. "The Atlantic Sun" was followed by several short lived newspapers before the "University Press" began publishing in 1999. Between 1969 and 1973 students at FAU also published underground newspapers. The finding aid for the FAU Student Newspapers is online.
