Q)     When would you need to indicate that you retrieved something from an electronic database?

A)     If you found an abstract for an article found in a database, but the full text of the article was not available to you (and you need to reference information you found in the abstract), this would be a time that you would need to indicate that you retrieved the abstract from an electronic database. See page 202 of the APA Manual, 6th edition.
