Letter from John Burke To Mary Burke December 25th, 1861, OnUSS R. R. Cuyler, in PensacolaFlorida. John Burk thanks his wife for sending Likeness for their children and her. He also  ask her if she received the $20 from his pay. Tells his wife if Johney ( his son) is a good boy in school he will be able to go to sea with him on the next voyage. John burke also states that he was drinking rum every day but stopped because he has "seen the evil of it"
