CREDO Module 2

Sources of Information

Find Books!

Search the FAU Libraries Catalog for books and other library materials.

Libraries Catalog Quick Search

Or search in the Catalog, Databases or e-Journal list.

OneSearch Tips:

1.  Use descriptive, specific search terms for best results.

The search terms "photography during the Civil War" will find results on a specific aspect of the Civil War while the search terms, "Civil War," will provide many articles about the Civil War.

2.  Use facets to narrow results. After entering a search, use the facets on the left side of the page to narrow results and refine your search:

  • Refine Results:  select to limit results to peer-review or full text online.
  • Source Types:  limit results to newspaper articles, journal articles, books, or other types of materials.
  • Publication Date:  limit results to a certain date range.
  • Subject:  choose articles that focus on a particular discipline or subject area.

3.  Expand your search. Uncheck the box for "Limiters - Available in Library Collection," to search for items not found in FAU Libraries.  Use Interlibrary Loan to request books, articles, and items not available in the FAU Libraries collections

Click on the title and scroll down to "Request document through ILLiad" to place an interlibrary loan request for the item (register to use this service).
